Airstrip OB
Terry McDaniel, RN, BA, Perinatal Department, Fairview Hospital, 18101 Lorain Rd., Cleveland, OH 44111 and Catherine R. Russ, RN, BSN, Birthing Center/High Risk OB, Fairview Hospital, 18101 Lorain Ave., Cleveland, OH 44111

Airstrip OB is a revolutionary technology that interfaces with our QS Perinatal documentation system in which obstetric providers can view maternal and fetal information in virtual real time, anywhere, anytime from their PDA or smart phone.
As part of our culture of quality patient care, this technology allows the provider to assess the patient information remotely, virtually putting them at the bedside 24 hours a day.  The remote assessment allows both the provider and nurse to view the information simultaneously and create a multidisciplinary plan even when the provider is remote from the facility.
This technology is brand new and the first of it’s kind.  Fairview Hospital’s Birthing Center was the first purchase and go-live of this software in the country.  Again, this remote access virtually puts the provider at the patient’s bedside 24 hours a day.  This access can assure the patient the very best in healthcare service knowing that the provider and bedside nurse are able to create an accurate multidisciplinary plan of care through all stages of their labor without delay.
