Joint Commission has recognized that creating a safe environment, for our youngest beneficiaries, involves more than just making sure that security mechanisms and equipment are available, operational, and used as intended.  Prevention of infant abduction requires building a culture to prevent infant abductions through communication, and team coordination (Joint Commission, 2007). The Infant Security Working group at Naval Medical Center San Diego designed the innovative Code Pink Response:  A Team Approach to the Prevention of Infant Abduction as a process improvement initiative.  The Code Pink Response was designed to provide an organizational plan for the prevention of and response to infant abduction. The Code Pink Response initiative established a multi-disciplinary working group to identify strategies to strengthen the command’s response to the prevention of infant abduction.
