Biographical Sketch:
Karen Peters, MBA, RD, LCCE, IBCLC
Karen is the Executive Director of the Breastfeeding Task Force of Greater Los Angeles. She is the lead lactation consultant for the Birth and Beyond California Breastfeeding Training and Quality Improvement Project, funded by the California Department of Public Health. The project supports hospitals as they implement systems changes to improve their breastfeeding rates. She is a registered dietitian, Internationally Board Certified Lactation Consultant, and Lamaze Certified Childbirth Educator. She has 30 years teaching experience, in breastfeeding, childbirth preparation, nutrition, and communication and supervisory skills. (And swimming, when in college.) Karen received her Bachelor of Science degree in nutrition from the UCLA School of Public Health. She obtained her Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Pepperdine University. Her interest in lactation grew as she breastfed Stephen, who is now 21 years old, and Emily, who is now 18 years old.
