Biographical Sketch: Michele Ondeck is a registered nurse with a bachelors in sociology from the University of Pittsburgh and a masters in health education from Penn State University.  She holds certifications as a childbirth educator, lactation consultant, doula, and infant massage instructor.  Her current positions include: Assisant Director of the Center of Excellence in Women's Health which is a designation by the Office of Women's Health of the DHHS; Project coordinator for March of Dimes and Heinz Endowment grants; and the Director of the Lamaze Childbirth Educator Program at the University of Pittssburgh Medical Center. She has worked with Magee Womancare International in training childbirth educators in Russia, Albania, Ukraine, Estonia, Hungary and Belarus.  In 2000, she authored "Historical Development" in Childbirth Eduation: Practice, Research and Theory, a textbook for childbirth educators.  Working as a volunteer with Lamaze International she is a member of its Education Council. Her passion is birth and advocating for women's health. She has presented locally, nationally and internationally on topics related to childbirth education and program outcomes.
