Biographical Sketch: Andrea M. Kelly RN, JD
Andrea has been a practicing registered nurse since 1982 mainly in the area of Obstetrics. After working as a staff nurse, she began to take on administrative responsibilities as nurse in charge and assistant nurse manager for Brigham and Women’s Obstetrical OR and the Center for Assisted Reproduction. Among the many programs she managed at Brigham and Women’s, Andrea was responsible for developing and leading the Partners Perinatal Safety Program and for developing and implementing the low fidelity drills.
In 1990, Andrea graduated from Suffolk University Law School and practiced for a short time as an attorney specializing in Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice.
Since joining Partners Office of Patient Safety in March of 2006, Andrea has applied her clinical experience and legal perspective to the continued development of a healthcare focused Communication and Teamwork Program. She has implemented and managed several of these programs across Partners.
