Biographical Sketch: Susan has been a leading voice and active participant in nursing for the last 30 years. The last 12 years in the area Perinatal Nursing. She had functioned as a frontline nurse and Clinical Manager in Labor & Delivery, Mother/Baby, and Nursery for the Seton Family of Hospitals for the last 6 years. She have been very involved in their Perinatal Safety Workgroup which has given her new energy and hope for the future of nursing in a complex medical system. Due to the phenomenal results of this Perinatal Safety Workgroup in reducing birth trauma, she has had the privilege to speak at the national, state and local levels in order to spread the concepts and innovations of high reliability, a culture of safety, communication and process designs and human factors we can no longer deny.
