Biographical Sketch: Cydney Afriat Menihan received her BSN from the University of Pittsburgh, her Masters of Science in Nursing from California State University at Los Angeles, and her certificate in nurse midwifery from the University of Southern California. She worked for many years as a labor and delivery nurse and a nurse midwife in the Los Angeles area as well as in central California on the Monterey Peninsula before relocating to Rhode Island. Cydney has taught electronic fetal monitoring pattern interpretation for more than 30 years and is the author of numerous articles pertaining to EFM. In addition she has published several books, her most recent being the 2008 edition of Electronic Fetal Monitoring: Concepts and Applications with coauthor Ellen Kopel. Cydney is also a consultant who works with attorneys in medical malpractice litigation.
