Biographical Sketch: Dr. Gloria Giarratano is an Associate Professor at LSUHSC School of Nursing. She is a nurse educator who has taught obstetrical nursing for the past 25 years in the New Orleans area. She has conducted previous qualitative research with maternity nurses to describe their experiences in providing woman-centered care in medically-focused practice arenas. She directed a program to provide cancer screening to underserved multicultural women and is currently studying genetic factors that may predispose women to preterm birth. She is the past president of the Louisiana Section of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric, and Neonatal Nurses (AWHONN).
