Biographical Sketch: Graduated from the Mountainside Hospital School of Nursing in Montclair, NJ in1974. Worked in various units until 1986 we moved  to Las Cruces, NM, where I took my first job in L&D.  I became a childbirth educator in 1990, certified in Inpatient Obstetrics in 1991. Today I work in Northern Westchester Hospital in the L&D. I have been active within the hospital on the Integrative Medicine team, where I became certified as an aromatherapist, as well as a level 2 Reiki practitioner. In addition I hold a certification in "M" technique full body massage. I was certified for 5 years as a lactation consultant. I continue to teach childbirth classes, and do some consulting for lawyers as an expert witness. I am intimately involved with policies and procedures within L&D, as well as a preceptor for new employees. In my private life, I have 4 grown children, and live in Katonah, NY with my husband and youngest daughter. I am currently a volunteer with the Medical Reserve Corp (part of the Departmnet of Homeland Security), and was deployed to Louisianna during Hurricane Katrina.

I have a fair amount of speaking experience. When I worked in ICU, I became part of the ICU education team, giving presentations on the endocrine and respiratory systems. Since working in L&D, I have become a childbirth educator, so I speak every month to groups. I have been involved with community education; doing talks about safety for seniors, child safety, as well as emergency childbirth and pregnancy related problems for local ambulance corps. Most recently, I did multiple presentations within our hospital related to the subject of hemorrhage. In the past I also taught CPR to the community.
