Biographical Sketch: Sandra A. Banta-Wright has spent her nursing career within the domain of caring for the smallest of children - newborns. As a staff nurse, a neonatal transport nurse, and as a NNP in Normal Newborn, Special and Intensive Care Nurseries, her patients were newborns and their families. She transitioned to the metabolic section of the newborn screening (NBS) program and found a fascinating field with a newborn focus. Most recently, she has worked in the Metabolic Clinic as a nurse practitioner and research associate.  When a positive metabolic NBS was identified in consultation with the pediatric metabolic specialist, she would notify the physician of record and discuss the recommendations for follow up. Currently, Sandra is a 2nd year doctoral nursing student in the School of Nursing at Oregon Health & Science University.
