Biographical Sketch: Michelle Adams, RN CCE is a staff member in Perioperative services on Labor and Delivery at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN), Allentown, Pennsylvania. Her duties allow her to work closely with physicians, residents, medical and nursing students, along with the patient and their families, while providing direct patient care in the scrub and circulating positions.  Mrs. Adams attended Lehigh Carbon Community College in the licensed practical nursing program and nine years later returned to school for her associate degree in nursing . She has worked at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network for 27 years, 24 of those as a staff nurse. During that time she has worked in several specialty areas, including Vascular, Trauma and, for the past 13 years, Labor and Delivery.  She currently teaches childbirth education on an outpatient basis through LVHHN’s Parent Education Programs.  Mrs. Adams is the chairperson of the unit based Reward and Recognition Committee.  In addition, she is a member of the national ski patrol, a non-profit, national organization designed to make ski slopes safe.

Mrs. Adams is certified in childbirth Education, Neonatal Resuscitation, and ACLS. She developed a unit based education program in which new employees and perinatal interns are oriented to the Obstetrical Operating Rooms. Mrs. Adams is an enthusiastic member of the "Live from Lehigh Valley OR: Operation C-Section” steering committee.  She is very passionate about educating high school students in health care careers, as well as demonstrating the teamwork that goes into the day to day running of an operating room.
