Biographical Sketch: Dr. Gallo is the Director of Nursing Education, Research and Professional Development at Sharp Grossmont Hospital in Southern California. In her role, she mentors staff nurses in conducting research and assists in analyzing current research to adopt into clinical practice. In addition, she assists the nursing staff by editing their research proposals and helps publish and/or present their research findings or evidence-based practice outcomes. Her nursing career has focused primarily on obstetrics. She has worked both as a clinical nurse in labor & delivery and high-risk OB. In addition to clinical practice, she has had the opportunity to conduct research in the perinatal setting. Her research focus has been on pain management in the adult and neonatal population and cultural relevant care for the childbearing population, specifically for the Latino population. Her most recent research trajectory involves the topic of sleep in the high-risk OB population. She has completed her doctoral degree at the University of San Diego and also completed a post-doctorate fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco sponsored by a T32 Training grant from the National Institutes of Health, National Institute of Nursing Research.
