Biographical Sketch: Isaac Alvarez Cardenas, MS, is a Coahuiltecan Native American Indian, son of an Apache mother and a Coahuiltecan father, raised in the inner city west side of San Antonio, Texas. Mr. Cardenas is currently working as Director of Programs for the American Indians in Texas at the Spanish Colonial Mission’s “Rites of Passage Program”. One of the AIT-SCM programs, “Rites of Passage” targets young men living in the inner-city west side of San Antonio.  Mr. Cardenas is a graduate with a Masters in Science, Psychology Counseling  from Our Lady of the Lake University in San Antonio, Texas. He is currently a Mental Health Psychotherapist working with children and families at Mental Health Clinics throughout the inner city. Mr. Cardenas is also the prayer and spiritual leader for the, Coahuiltecan Nation. It should be noted that Isaac Cardenas has chosen to reside in the inner city, working with high-risk, minority males, and youth for over twenty years, the purpose of which is to strengthen families and community by providing information, cultural and spiritual support, health education, parenting education, and social and emotional enlightenment.
