Biographical Sketch: Sandra Berk, RNC is a Registered Nurse on the Mother-Baby Unit at Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network (LVHHN), Allentown, Pennsylvania.  She is responsible for the care of post-partum mothers and newborn infants.  She graduated from The Allentown School of Nursing in 1972.  She acquired her initial experience as a psychiatric staff nurse and was then promoted to Nurse Manager of the psychiatric unit at LVHHN.  After nine years in this position, Sandy was ready for a new challenge and entered the world of obstetrics.  Sandy played an integral role in the changing delivery of care systems and assisted with the evolution of Mother-Baby couplet care.  Sandy’s thirst for knowledge led her to pursue and acquire certifications in Obstetrics, as a Lactation Consultant and as a neonatal resuscitation instructor.  Sandy continued to utilize and build upon her psychiatric background and became involved in bereavement counseling for parental loss.  She has been involved in numerous committees throughout LVHHN, currently serving on the Magnet Redesignation Committee.  Sandy has been nominated for a LVHHN Friends of Nursing Award.
