Biographical Sketch: Monika Heap is currently a Patient Care Director of a Family Centered Care unit at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church Virginia, a facility which delivered over 11,500 live births last year. She has developed expertise in the areas of nursing management, high risk pregnancy, post-partum, and neonatal nursing care. She completed her BSN at Syracuse University in 1999, and earned her MSN in Nursing Administration at George Mason University in May of 2007. She recently co-presented a poster for AWHONN’s 2007 conference on Innovations in Teamwork on the High Risk Perinatal Unit, describing several successful strategies implemented to improve morale and RN satisfaction during a time of expansion and change. Her interests include improving job satisfaction for nurses and nursing retention.
