Biographical Sketch: Pat Dougherty is a certified nurse midwife who has practiced for the past 7 years as a gynecologic nurse practitioner at the Midlife Health Center, University of Virginia Health Sciences Center. Prior to this role she worked in a full-scope midwifery practice in Baltimore and then was the administrator and sole clinician for the maternity and family planning programs for a four county health department district in the Charlottesville / Albemarle region. She received a B.A. in psychology, and then a B.S. and M.S. in nursing from the University of Virginia. She then received a certificate in midwifery from the Frontier School of Midwifery and Family Nursing. She is a member of AHWONN and sits on the editorial advisory board for Nursing for Women's Health. She is also a member of the American College of Nurse Midwives and an educational affiliate of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
