Biographical Sketch: Dr. Prien is director of the Clinical and Research Laboratories and a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. He received his Ph.D. from Texas Tech University in 1991 after completing his training in Reproductive Physiology. Dr. Prien is a board certified High-Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director and is certified in both clinical andrology and embryology. In addition to his general clinical laboratory work, Dr. Prien works directly with our Generalists and Reproductive Endocrinologist in the treatment of infertility patients as part of the Asisted Reproductive Technology program. Dr. Prien conducts physiology based research in a number of areas, both animal and human. He has received numerous grants (from private, industrial and state sources), has published over 60 journal articles and has made over 150 presentations of his work at regional, national and international meetings. Additionally, he currently holds three U.S. patents with others pending.
