Biographical Sketch: Dr. Shih-Yu (Sylvia) Lee is currently an Assistant Professor in the Byrdine F. Lewis School of Nursing at Georgia State University (GSU). She received her ADN from the National Taipei Nursing College in Taiwan, her B.S.N from the University of Florida, her M.S. in perinatal nursing (major in high risk newborn and minor in nursing education) from the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), and her Ph.D. in Nursing Science from UCSF, focusing on stress and sleep disturbances. Dr. Lee did her postdoctoral training at Emory University focusing on sleep disruption and fatigue in caregivers of a medically ill family member, specifically parents who have an infant in the intensive care unit (ICU). Her goal is to establish a program of research involving cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) in promoting sleep and other health outcomes among the care givers of medically ill family members, and designing and testing CBT in the area of stress and sleep. She is currently a PI on a randomized clinical trial pilot study to examine the clinical significance and feasibility for a sleep intervention among mothers who have a low birth weight infant hospitalized in the ICU.
