Biographical Sketch: Joan Edwards has over 40 years experience as a nurse, mostly in the perinatal area.  She has a Diploma as a Registered Nurse from Copley School of Nursing in Aurora, Illinois, a BSN from the Univ. of Illinois, an MN - from the University of Washington.  Joan is presently enrolled in at Univ. of Texas - Tyler in the Global Nursing PhD program.  She is also certified in High Risk Perinatal Nursing through ANCC.  Joan has taught fulltime at the Texas Woman's University - Houston campus in the undergraduate nursing program since 2002.  Joan has actively participated in AWHONN for many years, as a member, Chapter leader, Section officer, member of the national Board of Directors, and as the 2006 President of national AWHONN.  As an educator within acute healthcare systems and within academia, this presenter is very much aware of the need for innovation and fun within the field of education.  She is going to share from her years of experience and that of her colleagues who have so graciously shared with her.
