Biographical Sketch: Christine Jonas-Simpson is an Assistant Professor, Faculty of Health, School of Nursing at York University and is an Adjunct Researcher with the Women’s College Research Institute in Toronto Canada. Christine received her baccalaureate degree in nursing at McMaster University in 1985 and her Masters in Nursing Science at the University of Toronto in 1987. She worked several years as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in acute care, rehabilitation, and long-term care. In 1998 Christine received a PhD in Nursing Science from Loyola University Chicago. Her program of women’s health research is grounded in human science and most broadly defined as Living with and Transforming Loss. Currently Christine is conducting three studies on living with and transforming loss with those who experience perinatal loss and bereavement. She volunteers with parents who experience infant loss and is the author of Ethan’s Butterflies (www.trafford.com/06-0606), a spiritual book for parents and young children after a baby’s passing. She lives in Toronto with her husband, sons and yellow lab, Frodo.
