F7 - Teaching Strategies, Mentoring and Precepting for the Perinatal, Neworn Nurse Manager

We all have factual information that is difficult to retain. This becomes a major problem when information is vital and encompasses assessment data, diagnostic testing and results, or patient interventions. Teaching techniques that involve our senses have been proven to be more effective for retention of factual content. And if you add the ingredient of “FUN”, it becomes a winner for all! Come and see (and participate in) the “cardinal movements of labor” done with visual aides. Hear a song you will never forget that helps you remember what to do when your patient has a fetal heart rate variable deceleration. Learn some games to use with your labor and delivery, nursery or postpartum personnel. Learning can be fun; and you, too, can “Make it Stick”.
