This presentation will identify the "well newborn" and help guide delivery room health care providers in choosing the appropriate level of care for the acuity level of the individual child. The sacred cows of the modern delivery room will be identified with an attempt to de-mystify fetal transition to extrauterine life. Finally, we will discuss "routine" delivery room practices in America and identify those that are helpful vs. those that may inadvertently cause harm.
