According to the Centers for Disease Control over 320,000 or approximately 8% of pregnant women experience intimate personal violence each year. Violence during pregnancy causes a dichotomy existence. The victim feels that she has two separate lives: the personal vs. the private; her safety vs. her interdependence with the perpetrator; and her prospect of single life vs. her desire for a concrete societal family unit. Screening, resources and post disclosure measures will be addressed.
