Submission Description:
Palliative care is the “active” total approach to care that embraces the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the patient and family. Our program is unique as we develop a relationship with the patient and family prior to deliver. We help them develop a birth plan so that their wishes are known and honored even before they delivery. Our Palliative Care team at the Women and Babies Hospital focuses on enhancing the quality of life for the baby while supporting the family. The team strives to reduce and relieve physical pain and suffering of the baby and provides for the psychosocial, emotional, and spiritual needs of the family prior to delivery and beyond.
