Title: E2 - A New Frontier in EFM Theory & Practice: ST Analysis of FHR
Disciplines: Childbearing (CB), Advanced Practice (AP)
Learning Objectives:
- Identify the progression from fetal hypoxemia to fetal metabolic acidemia
- Describe the role of ST analysis as an adjunct to traditional EFM
- Apply ST analysis guidelines to actual cases
Used extensively in Europe as an adjunct to traditional fetal monitoring, ST analysis is now being used in the United States. Learn how proper usage can allow clinicians to provide appropriate intervention when faced with the risk of fetal metabolic acidosis, a well-known precursor to potential injury. A case study approach will be used to demonstrate the dramatic effectiveness of this new breakthrough in FHR monitoring.
