  1. List and explain the components of sound documentation.
  2. Discuss the relationship of the nursing and medical record to the deposition process.
  3. Describe five tips for deposition survival.
Submission Description:
If you practice in perinatal care long enough, chances are you will be faced with the issue of litigation, including deposition and perhaps trial testimony. This session will reveal the relationship between nursing documentation and the legal process, and provide nurses with the knowledge they will need to prepare for deposition or trial testimony. How much to chart, common charting errors, issues with electronic documentation as well as paper records will be discussed in detail and the link between documentation and defense will be examined.
