  1. Examine the impact intimate partner violence (IPV) has on the health and safety of women.
  2. Discuss the barriers that prevent women from disclosing IPV.
  3. Formulate strategies to increase reporting rates among women who are experiencing intimate partner violence.
Submission Description:
Intimate partner violence (IPV) affects the health and safety of women. This presentation will explore evidence-based strategies that will help initiate difficult conservations addressing IPV. This presentation also gives insight into the difficulty women have in disclosing abuse by examining the barriers experienced by abused women; and what it means to women when they receive the support and assistance they deserve. Short vignettes are included to assist participants in gaining the skills and confidence needed to address this emotionally charged topic with abused women.
