Submission Description:
This presentation will address the nursing profession’s involvement in global health from planning and preparing to implementation and sustainability. The World Health Organization estimates that 500,000 women worldwide die each year in pregnancy and childbirth and 7.6 million children under five died in 2010. Nurses working collaboratively through the ministries of health in Cameroon, Honduras, Thailand, Tanzania and Vietnam have developed initiatives that examine the delivery of safe care, improve the quality of maternal care though education, and provide strategies for parenting in an NICU.
