  2. Discuss potential motivations for remaining silent in the face of safety concerns.
  3. Apply strategies for increasing the effectiveness of clinical communication.
Submission Description:
Numerous recent health policy initiatives and national strategies dictate improved patient safety. Effective interprofessional communication is a hallmark of safe patient care. This hot topic presentation will examine research on clinical communication to illuminate differing professional perspectives that contribute to communication breakdowns. We will discuss strategies for transcending professional stereotypes and communicating more effectively, including nurse-led interventions to flatten hierarchies and improve collaboration.
