A1 - Uterine Tachysystole: Myth Vs. Reality
Title: A1 - Uterine Tachysystole: Myth Vs. Reality
Disciplines: Advanced Practice (AP), Childbearing (CB), Professional Issues (PI)
Learning Objectives:
- Identify personal knowledge gaps related to uterine activity during labor.
- Discuss common errors in tachysystole policies.
- List three crucial principles that must be incorporated into the management of uterine activity, both spontaneous and stimulated.
Since the 2008 NICHD report was published, many hospitals have implemented new policies on uterine tachysystole, resulting in some unintended consequences for patients and clinicians. This session will separate myth from reality regarding excessive uterine activity, and aid clinicians in developing policies that provide both clinical and legal safeguards.
