PC9 - Advanced Concepts In Electronic Fetal Monitoring: Rising To The Expert Level
Title: PC9 - Advanced Concepts In Electronic Fetal Monitoring: Rising To The Expert Level
Disciplines: Advanced Practice (AP), Childbearing (CB), Professional Issues (PI)
Learning Objectives:

  - Discuss influences extrinsic and intrinsic to the fetus responsible for fetal tissue oxygenation and FHR regulation
 - Relate EFM interpretation, fetal-acid-base status and clinical management
 - Interpret a variety of FHR tracings reflecting unusual maternal and/or fetal complications

This fast-paced presentation begins with the physiologic basis for fetal monitoring including fetal respiratory exchange, oxygenation and fetal heart rate (FHR) regulation. Using current evidence, participants will interpret intrapartum FHR tracings, assess fetal acid-base status, and discuss clinical management. A variety of cases including ruptured vasa previa, fetomaternal hemorrhage, twin-twin transfusion syndrome, maternal seizure, labor induction, uterine rupture, signal ambiguity, and fetal arrhythmias will be presented.
