Learning Objectives:
  1. Describe the inaccurate and denigrating image of nurses as seen in the media.
  2. Recognize why these portrayals are putting patients and nurses at risk.
  3. Identify specific techniques nurses can use to present the true independent body of knowledge and professionalism of nursing.
Submission Description:
This session will examine the negative impact of the media's view of nurses in TV, greeting cards, etc. Guidelines and tools will be presented to empower the nurse to communicate effectively and work with different audiences to tell their compelling stories about REAL nursing practice.
