Discipline: Childbearing (CB)

Learning Objectives:
  • Define the importance of having a RLP.
  • Develop strategies to introduce the concept of RLPs to women and men of childbearing age.
  • Develop strategies to implement RLP in the clinical setting.

  • Submission Description:
In an effort to improve pregnancy outcomes the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) now recommends preconception care (PCC) for men and women of childbearing age. Preconception care begins with the development of a reproductive life plan (RLP). Few data are available to describe perspectives of RLPs and PCC among individuals of childbearing age. These data are essential to guide the development of interventions to improve awareness and utilization of RLPs and PCC among women and men of childbearing age.

The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
