Learning Objectives:
  • Identify the framework and resources required to build a state-wide or regional learning collaborative to improve breastfeeding practices and outcomes
  • Describe 1-2 challenges and possible solutions for developing and sustaining infrastructure for a successful learning collaborative
  • Describe 1-2 strategies used to successfully accelerate adoption of recommended practices in infant nutrition and care.

  • Submission Description:
    We will present on background, theoretical frameworks and approaches, implementation, and results to-date from the Texas Breastfeeding Learning Collaborative, led by NICHQ and the Texas Department of State Health Services Nutrition Branch (WIC). The initiative is framed by the 10 Steps to Successful Breastfeeding in Breakthrough Series Learning Collaborative model. Participants will learn about hospital maternity care practices improvements and lessons learned to apply to future breastfeeding quality improvement efforts.

    The Association of Women's Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nurses is accredited as a provider of continuing nursing education by the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Commission on Accreditation.
