  • Submission Description:
    Whether you are a staff nurse or a nurse executive, liability in perinatal nursing is an issue that deserves your attention. This session will address legal issues in perinatal nursing and provide a focus on both risk reduction and risk mitigation. Actual case studies will be reviewed, and lessons from deposition and trial will be highlighted. Individual practice as well as leadership concerns will be addressed in this interactive workshop. Specific topics covered will include key areas of obstetric and neonatal litigation: standard of care, chain of command, informed consent, and scope of employment vs. scope of practice. Special attention will be given to documentation issues, including policies and protocols. Learn to think like a lawyer and protect your patients and your practice, from bedside to boardroom!
