Learning Objectives:
  • At the end of this session, the participant should be able to describe the causes of early pregnancy loss, and the management approaches that can be applied to resolving it.
  • At the end of this session, the participant should be able to identify all of the pharmacologic agents that assist with resolution of a miscarriage.
  • At the end of this session, the participant should be able to discuss the patient implications of a variety of approaches to the management of early pregnancy loss, including the introduction of manual uterine evacuation into the ambulatory setting.

  • Submission Description:
    Early pregnancy loss, or miscarriage, is experienced in as many as 30% of all pregnancies. In addition to coping with the emotional challenge of early pregnancy loss, many women are also confronted with decision-making about what to do next. This presentation will discuss three modalities for resolving early pregnancy loss, with an emphasis on helping women to make the treatment decision that is going to be best for them.
