This case study will review a patient who unexpectedly encountered a uterine rupture, necessitating a hysterectomy. A recent massive transfusion protocol was successfully implemented and the stressed newborn survived, neurologically intact, after subsequent cooling for hypoxemic ischemic encephalopathy.
