Title: I4A - Improving Intimate Partner Violence Screening through the Use of Standardized Patients

Learning Objectives:
  • Participants will identify at least 3 barriers to intimate partner violence screening.
  • Participants will list key elements of standardized patient programs as a method for delivering continuing education.
  • Participants will formulate an opinion about the value of using standardized patients with their nurses.

  • Submission Description:
    Actors known as standardized patients can be used to improve nurses' intimate partner screening skills. This program was originally delivered to nursing students but has since been offered to working professional nurses. This presentation will discuss the results of this program as well as offer important tips on how to create a similar program at your facility.
