Hall A (San Diego Convention Center)
This poster will describe high fidelity simulation in the multidisciplinary setting. The participants have had hands on experience by participating in obstetric simulation using the NOELLE birthing manikin. The session has helped participants to hone emergency skills, learn about simulation curriculum development, scenario writing, and debriefing strategies. Simulation can be used in the scope of physician, midwifery, and nursing practice to educate practioners, learn new skills, maintain current skills, and improve OB emergency maneuvers. It has become an important tool in obstetrical education and “Team Training” within educational institutions and the hospital setting. Simulation is an element in the IHI’s safety recommendations. Emergent OB simulation improves OB practitioner response and enhances multidisciplinary team-work and collaboration between midwives, physicians, anesthesiologists, and nurses.
