Lack of communication has been listed as the number one root cause of sentinel events. Following in the footsteps of the airline industry and through the uses of role playing, video recording of neonatal resuscitations and a NICU specific version of team resource management (TRM), teamwork training has been implemented to decrease errors by improving team behaviors and situation awareness in high risk delivery resuscitations and in the NICU environment.
