Pregnant women, newborns and infants have special needs in times of disaster. Women experience greater health complications associated with pregnancy, including premature births,low-birth infants and infant deaths. Disaster planning for hospitals and other settings providing care to pregnant women and their newborns is essential to reduce maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity.
