Women in our society today have an ever increasing risk toward utilizing addictive substances, both prescribed and illicit as well as a propensity to engage in obsessive compulsions with activities, food, behaviors and relationships. Risk factors, biological and psychosocial, are reviewed and disease identification/treatment options are outlined.
