Title: A3 - CSI Obstetrics: Complex Symptoms Investigations in Perinatal Care

Disciplines: Childbearing (CB), Advanced Practice (AP)

Learning Objectives:
  1. Identify symptoms of the clinical disorders reviewed.
  2. Describe two pathophysiologic changes in each disorder reviewed.
  3. Develop an evidence-based plan of care for each disorder.
Submission Description:
Have you ever heard the expression, when you hear hoofs think horses, not zebras? Using a case study format, this presentation will explore some of the zebras: complex medical and obstetric complications perinatal patients may experience such as new onset cancer during pregnancy, hyperlipedemic pancreatitis, preeclampsia leading to blindness and hyperparathyroidism masquerading as peripartal cardiomyopathy. Pathophysiologic changes will be reviewed. Evidence-based management will be discussed.
