Title: A2 - Addressing Lateral and Horizontal Violence Via Horizontal and Vertical Communications

Learning Objectives:
- Describe basic relationships between disruptive behaviors and suboptimal outcomes.
- Articulate the essential elements of an organizational infrastructure built around a "disruptive behavior pyramid" for addressing unprofessional behavior.
- Identify the skills required for and potential hazards associated with "horizontal and vertical communications" for addressing unprofessional behavior.
Given the recent press about a Texas nurse who blew the whistle about unsafe practices, this session provides case-based discussions about solutions for creating workplace cultures that are increasingly intolerant of disruptive and unprofessional behavior (aka, "lateral and horizontal violence").
