Title: PC8 - The Master's Course: Electronic Fetal Monitoring In the Medically Complex Patient

Learning Objectives:
- Describe the role of the team and strategies to create effective team communication to improve maternal/fetal safety
- Discuss fetal physiologic and pathophysiologic responses in the medically complex obstetric patient
- Describe common sources and strategies to reduce errors in umbilical cord blood gases
Through lecture, discussion and case presentation/group study, this advanced course will discuss complex and unusual fetal tracings, the challenges of Category II tracings, fetal care in the second stage of labor, strategies for effective team communication and oxytocin related dilemmas as well as physiologic principles and common sources of error in umbilical cord gases.
