Submission Description:
Team Strategies and Tools to Enhance Performance and Patient Safety (TeamSTEPPS)is an evidence-based teamwork system aimed at optimizing patient outcomes by improving communication and teamwork skills among health care professionals. Teamwork has been found to be one of the key initiatives in patient safety that can transform the culture within healthcare. Patient safety experts agree that communication and other teamwork skills are essential for the provision of quality healthcare and for the prevention and mitigation of medical errors and patient injury and harm. Faculty will reinforce material through use of simulation scenarios. At this highly participatory, hands-on workshop, attendees will take away vital tools and strategies to facilitate enhanced teamwork in their own practice settings.
