  1. Name two evidence-based interventions discussed in TIOP III that have been demonstrated to significantly improve perinatal outcomes.
  2. Name two initiatives discussed in TIOP III that have been demonstrated to significantly improve any of the following: preconception and interconception care, prenatal care, intrapartum care, caring for the high risk infant, postpartum care
  3. Identify two recommendations that each participant can apply immediately in her/his care environment.
Submission Description:
Scott D. Berns, MD, MPH, FAAP, will be presenting core content and recommendations from Toward Improving the Outcome of Pregnancy III: Enhancing Perinatal Health Through Quality, Safety and Performance Initiatives (TIOP III), released in December 2010. His talk will describe the purpose of the publication and focus on content directly relevant to obstetric, neonatal and women’s health nurses. He will present specific recommendations for quality and safety improvement in prenatal care, labor and delivery, NICU care, and post-partum care, as well as the broad, cross-cutting themes of TIOP III. Using an automated audience response system, Berns’ presentation will engage participants in identifying areas of action for quality and safety improvement in their care environment.
