  1. Describe the role of a nurses' union in a Magnet organization.
  2. Identify key communication strategies to maximize leadership and professional staff involvement.
  3. Explain the development of a collaborative practice model to achieve successful opportunities for change.
Submission Description:
How does a hospital recover from a nursing strike to achieve Magnet redesignation? How do unions affect the professional development of the staff nurse? This presentation will address the relationship that a union has with hospital management; how management, staff and the union strive to work collaboratively to foster professionalism, and patient safety and advocacy. Strategies that have been successfully implemented to assure cooperative and continued communication will be discussed.
