  1. Review evidence-based, best care practices for neonatal bathing and skin care.
  2. Describe the ideal properties and characteristics of neonatal skin cleansers.
  3. Discuss how to care for the umbilical cord and vernix.
Submission Description:
Proper neonatal bathing, cleansing, and skincare are important to the maintenance of normal skin barrier function and the overall health and well-being of the newborn. In this presentation, we review evidence-based, best practices for neonatal bathing and skin care, including which cleansers are optimal for neonatal bathing, discussion of antiseptic cleansers, vernix care, and cord care.
