Title: E5 - Discharging the At-Risk Newborn: Oh, the Places They Will Go

Learning Objectives:

Review differences in well-child visits for the at risk newborn and relate special characteristics of parental stress.
Discuss the nutritional deficiencies common in at risk newborns and propose strategies to manage follow-up care
Outline common neuro-developmental problems associated with at risk newborns and suggest appropriate interventions to manage findings

Submission Description:

This session will focus on the post-discharge tracking and surveillance programs necessary to ensure appropriate follow-up care of high-risk infants from neonatal intensive care units. Using evidence based practice research and guidelines, attendees will be exposed to the unique concerns the at-risk newborn poses after discharge, along with strategies for care management.
